Why .MP3?
Since we've started releasing our music in the .MP3 format, we've gotten many emails asking why
the .XM versions of our toons aren't available. There are four main reasons why we've decided to
do this.
The MP3 format allows us:
- A larger audience, as MP3s are widely traded and recognized.
- More creative freedom. We are composing our music not only with FastTracker, but with a combination
of softsynths, effected synth lines, and tracking. This gives the music a fuller, deeper, better produced sound,
allows us to create the music which more closely resembles the ideas in our imaginations and unfortunately makes the .XM files grow to
insanely large sizes, usually greater than 50 megabytes in size, which would make internet distribution
very difficult, and somewhat useless as the samples (.XI) wouldn't even be usable if ripped.
- Control over playback. By putting our stuff out as MP3, we can be sure that you, the listener, are hearing
the music as we intended it, and not a messed up sonic-mud-bath that is the result of a poorly coded player programs.
- WinAMP kicks serious ass, and you can get some amazing visualization plugins that may enhance your listening experience (it's suggested that you try the CTHUGHA plugin which can be downloaded for free from the WinAMP homepage [linked on the releases page]).
